Is there a connection with Dreds and crime?
My answer is "NO". However, is seems an alarming number of people getting in trouble have dreds. I was watching the news last night and 4 out of the 6 guys accused of trying to rob a rap star had locs (dreds). It's not just this incident there are many others. Are these people really guilty or are they being profiled because of their look? Is it a coincident that they have Dreds and white t-shirts? Is this why so many celebrities are cutting their hair? Check it!

Ahh Bra
Wow ladies, Rhonda might be on to something. Check out the ahh bra at http://www.a
hhbra.com/ 1-800-959-3398. Trust me i'm not getting paid for this. I just tired of seeing women in the wrong bra. Some women try too hard to be sexy. They stuff their breast in bras that are too small and their breast looks like a set of twins popping out of their chest. :-) Anyway, I was up at 5 am watching infomercials and stumbled on the ahhh bra. Looks like a great stocking stuffer. Ahhh

Bullying
Don't you think bullying has gone too far? Bullying went from being afraid to go to the playground to suicide......ARE YOU SERIOUS. ERRRRRRR THIS HAS GOT TO STOP. We often hear about the child that's being bullied but we never hear about the bully or their parents. For some reason because of their age they get to hide behind the blurry camera. :-( So how big and bad are you? Hey have you ever met the parent(s) of a bully? I have, you quickly discover that bullying is learned.
When my son was in the 4th grade his best friend was being bullied for about a week at the bus stop. This kids mom would tell him to toughen up, she went to the school and still got no help. I started going to the bus stop in the morning and I would schedule my lunch in the afternoon around the time the bus would drop them off. I approached him, he cussed me, I followed him home to talk with his parents she refused to come to the door. So I started taunting him. Keep in mind that he wasn't bothering my son. He was just messing with a part of the village and needed correction. Through out this process, the school didn't do much except threaten to suspend his bus privileges. I spoke with the apartment manager and she informed me that the family has lived in the neighborhood for over 10 years and the father worked for the FBI. She said they have vandalized property, fought other kids, etc. and the parents don't seem to care. I threatened to call the police everytime one of the kids tell me he was being bullied. (Now she's interested) Why? Because, the area was very progressive. The apartments homes were very expensive and worth every dime. If I called the police every day that means the zip code would be flagged as BAD and it would affect their bottom line. In the meantime I continued to let this kid know I'm watching him and still tried to reach out to his mom. I showed the apartment manager I meant business (called the police a few timess) she evicted the tenant. Oh well, I didn't want that to happen but if you refuse to police your child them maybe someone else should. Because of these three bad kids the entire family had to find somewhere else to live. They (managers) later told me that they had had enough with that family of bullies. Said when they met with the parents and threatened to evict them. The dad tried to intimated them with laws and rules, etc. As I stated, often times bullying is a learned behavior.
WE MUST GET TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. I think everything starts at home. If there is a bully at your child's school, in your neighborhood, or playground let start with THE PARENTS and hopefully we can find a resolution.
We must also teach our kids TO TELL. When you pick your child up from the sitter ask them in front of the sitter what happened today. Don't wait until later. I know sometimes we are in a hurry to get home. Question him in front of the adult so he won't be afraid to speak in front of an adult. If the teacher said he was sassy or he hit someone, address in front of the person. After a while, when you pick your kid up, he/she will say things like, mom Ms. Teacher said shut your mouth and sit down now, Ms. Teacher said I'm a great kid or Tonya pushed me down and when i told the teacher she didn't do anything. Do you see where I'm going with this? Remember, it wasn't my neighbors kid who told me about him being bullied. It was my son. He told me that my neighbors kid was being bullied. You want to know what happened to my neighbor's kid. She stop letting him play WITH EVERYONE, because of one bully. So he became a prisoner for something that wasn't his fault. When the bullies moved he was able to play with the other children. I wonder who's bullying him now? hmmmmmm Our kids look up to us to protect them. Let's start by talking to them, meet their friends, take away the cell phones and let some of those calls come to the house phone.
LET'S START PUNISHING THE PARENTS FOR THEIR CHILD'S BEHAVIOR THEN MORE PARENTS WILL START PARENTING. HEY CAN WE TEACH PARENTS HOW TO PARENT??? ERRRRRRRR :-(

What in the.........
If you wake up everyday and order a combo meal at any restaurant and never exercise. You will probably gain weight. Instead of exercising we will blame the restaurant, sue them for millions win, and EAT YOURSELF TO DEATH. Ah excuse me Mr. Klump, I don't think you sho
uld eat that (DON'T YOU TELL ME WHAT THE HELL I CAN EAT) well sir, we have a great salad on the menu. It's really healthy you should try it(IF YOU DON'T PUT THOSE 2 BIG MAC COMBO MEALS IN MY BAG I WILL HURT YOU) Ok sir, but it will be the death of you.

It's really healthy you should try it(IF YOU DON'T PUT THOSE 2 BIG MAC COMBO MEALS IN MY BAG I WILL HURT YOU) Ok sir, but it will be the death of you. Don't try to come back and sue us for making you fat. Click on the link.
I have a better one, you pull up to the restaurant, order coffee or tea, spill it go to the emergency room, call your attorney and sue the restaurant because you drove around town with a HOT beverage in your lap. Ah excuse me Mr. Dumbo, this coffee is hot(DAMMIT I know it's hot)well you may want to put it in the cup holder instead of between your legs, I don't want to you spill it(JUST GIVE ME THE DRINK, I'M RUNNING LATE)ok sir but if you spill it, it might give you 3rd degree burns and we will have to put signs up reminding you that if you spill this HOT beverage on your body, because you are a "jack plus" it might burn you.(WHATDA YOU THINK I'M STUPID)ah yes I do. I would hate for you to sue US because you burnt you. Click on the link
AND WHO DO WE SUE FOR THIS MESS......HIS PARENTS
I can't even type some of the stuff I want to say. It's funny, after falling over with laughter I asked myself. "Why didn't I think of that?" Hmmm, I'm not smart. :-) I might sue my parents for being taller than most men, or for having a big eyes, hell I might sue SUE for being SUE!!!
I'm tripping!!!
Just try to eat healthy. When in doubt eat a toss salad before your lunch and dinner, drink at lease two litters of water daily, eat a healthy snack like nuts, celery, carrots, yogurt, or fruit (watch sugar in fruit). Park away from the building, your exercise would be getting to the building, take the stairs and make sure you have a bowel movement twice a day. You will start to lose weight. STOP BLAMING others for the silly things you cause on yourself. As for the coffee, damn I wish I'd thought of that. I could have had millions. Peace

Bronner Brother's Trade Show
My other blog http://nufacesinternational.blogspot.com/Imagine building an empire that started with $200. Or going from the YMCA to the Georgia World Congress Center, Dr. Bronner did it. I attended the Bronner Brother's Hair Show
this August 2010. I must admit it has changed a lot since the 90's when I first started attending. The show went from being exclusive to licensed hairstylist/barber, educators or cosmetology students to being open to anyone with money. It use to be, the show we talked about all year. Now it's the show only outsiders [people not in the industry] talk about. It's sad, because we[stylist] need that conference. It's where we go to learn about the new trends, brush up on our technical skills and network with like minded individuals. So what happened? Did the Bronner Brother Family hit hard times and no longer care about the integrity of their fathers business? Or did we as stylist, invite our family and friends to the conference because we didn't want to go alone? Hmmm, I think it's both. One of my friends is a nurse and had a conference in Chicago. She invited me, she said her company is paying for everything, so I'll have a place to stay. All I have to do is get there and pay for my food. I ask can I go to the conference? She replied NO, Tonya it's for nurses only. Naturally, I'm not interested in the field of nursing so hearing NO was not a disappointment. But imagine if she said yes. That's means I would probably leave the conference with samples of new meds, I get to hear all insiders secrets and more importantly, I would hurt the integrity of the industry. So why do we do it to this industry? Leaders like Bronner Brothers; WHY am I sitting in class next to women, who don't know how to cut a bob or don't know shear angles? WHY am I sitting next to women who don't know the difference in semi and demi color. Well based on their questions in the classes, I made my way over to them and through conversation I found out that they are NOT a licensed stylist and have never been to beauty school. However, they have "always done hair at home." How did they get tickets without showing their credentials? Why did she have an entire product line in her possession? Give me a break!!!!

Now I do understand that many of us don't like traveling alone. Bring your kiths along for the ride, get them set up in the hotel, and while you're at the trade show they can tour Atlanta. At the end of the day, you guys meet up for the Trade show competition, concerts, comedy shows, etc. But you don't need them sitting next to you in the classrooms, (and got the nerve to ask questions) or on the exhibition floor buying products. Let's get it together.
I predict, that in a few years, we will hear things like, "the the haircare business isn't what it used to be. And the stylist doesn't support some of the black own haircare conferences like they use to." This is sad because the trade show has some of the best technical stylist in the world. You can't beat the quality of education you get for such a low price. But we miss out on most of it because we're sitting with so many kitchen-ticians asking basic beauty school questions like "how do you cut a bob?" What!!!!!
BRONNER BROTHER WE LOVE YOU AND WANT TO CONTINUE TO SHOW OUR SUPPORT BUT YOU HAVE GOT TO ENFORCE YOUR COMPANY RULES OR SIMPLY RAISE YOUR STANDARDS.
Don't be so heavenly minded that you are no earthly good.
You can't fly with eagles if you hang out with turkeys. (Dr. Nathaniel Bronner, Sr.)
You can't fly with eagles if you hang out with turkeys. (Dr. Nathaniel Bronner, Sr.)
It's time that Bronner Bros, start asking to see your license before they give you access to the trade show. It's time stylist stop bringing their kiths to an industry event. And together we can fulfill the late Dr. Bronners vision.

A woman can't raise a boy to be a man.....What?
We have so many great men out here, my brother Perry, Rodney,Chris,Roy,Taylor,Base and the list goes on. Raised by wonderful, strong women. I get so angry when I hear ppl (mostly men) say, a woman can't raise a boy to be a man. Who raised you? Even if it was grandma...a woman. When dad was just around holding ya mama down cuz he was afraid to reach higher who kept the family strong....a woman. Who was there to say, "you can do it, u better get it done, do it or i'm knock you into next wk, I love you, let me help you study, I'll meet you at the your game, etc." Now don't get me wrong, we have men wearing both hats and doing well, Thanks. Today, let's focus on the positive influences in our lives. The ppl missing are at a lost. They will never know how wonderful you turned out to be. Their absence probably made your stronger. So lets take a min. right now to pray for them. Pray that they find there purpose b4 it's too late. And if they should come back into your life, forgive them for being absent and praise them for trying. Afterall, we serve a second chance God. Have a wonderful day, remember to smile and speak kind words to a stranger. Yes, I said a stranger. Peace

If you're good at something, never do it for FREE! -JOKER- (The dark knight)
So I'm flipping through some of the most popular hair magazines today and saw step by step pieces for African American consumers. Funny thing, I hardly ever see this in non-African American magazines. What's even more interesting to me is the silly people that are so eager to win the popularity contest (as if it exist) they submit all of their salon secrets, step by step. Hey guys, IF I WERE A MECHANIC AND I GAVE YOU STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO CHANGE THE OIL IN YOUR CAR, WOULD YOU STILL LET ME CHANGE YOURS???? Or WOULD YOU BUY CHICKEN FROM KFC AFTER, THEY GAVE YOU THEIR SECRET RECIPE? PLEASE..........PLEASE. And another thing, some magazines pay for pictures, so why are you giving yours away? I understand f you did it sometimes, but every time…..GIVING away step by step, you deserve some monetary compensation. Let me replay a conversation I had with a very popular A.A consumer based magazine. (Mag. Rep)"Hello Tonya, I was looking over some of the work you have done for us in the past and I was wondering if you would be interested in having a few pages front and back of our magazine spotlighting your work?" (Me) "Sure, I would love that. What are you looking for?" (Mag. Rep)" Well, we need more short and natural styles. Tonya, we also want the looks to be step by step" (Me) “I can send you before and after, I have several of those." She insisted on step by step. Hmmmmm (Me) "I'm sorry, I can't do that, what would be the point of showing the consumer how create a style that I want them to patronize me for. I will continue to send you images, however I WILL NOT send step-by-step." She said she understood and to this day they continue to print my finished images. QUESTION: Do you think the magazine will give you step by step instructions on how to create your own hair magazine? How to promote your magazine? NO! So why don't you stop showcasing your talent for FREE! I will never forget, my son and I were watching The Dark Knight and the Joker said to the other criminals, "If you're good at something, never do it for Free!" Hmmmm Remember, these companies would not be in business if it wasn't for your talent. Sense anyone?!?!? I could go on and on with this but, I'm teaching a class on this and I'd hate to give it away.
